Disclaimer: Today's post is all about undisclosed sources "close to the project", so take everything here with a shaker of salt.
I trust FilmDrunk enough to give it to us straight. In response to yesterday's flurry of Dan Aykroyd Vanity Fair interview speculation, the site quotes a source close to the project that repeats a lot of what we already know or could assume, with one juicy tid bit.
We know: Ramis, Reitman and Aykroyd are on board. They want to shoot this spring for a 2012 release.
We could assume: Aykroyd isn't completely rewriting it, but his input will be listened to.
Juicy tidbit: The studio likes it, and the script goes out to Bill Murray for approval... now!
If ever there was a time to pray to Gozer, this is it.
As long as we're on the topic of undisclosed sources and script status, I had a twitter back-and-forth with @MysteryExec last month, a twisted, foul mouthed twitter account run by someone who claims to be a Hollywood executive. In his first tweet, he let it slip that he had read the latest draft of the GB3 script by Eisenberg and Stupnitsky. I inquired further and he admitted in a backwards way that the script is good!
Tweet 1, Tweet 2, Tweet 3
So kids, if you care to believe the word of a Drunk and a Mystery Man, go for it! I do, but that's just me :D

2 magic words:
i'm sorry but your links don't work! :(
can you write what he wrote you?
It looks like you need to be signed into Twitter to see individual tweets. If you don't have a Twitter account to confirm here's the transcript:
MysteryExec
Ghostbusters III is happening. Read latest Eisenberg/Stupnitsky draft. Jews aren't just good with money. They can write, too. #hollywood
TheRoboticDan
@MysteryExec You say GBIII is happening and "they can write" like the script is good. (please tell me it's good. or at least ok)
MysteryExec
@TheRoboticDan Did you see Year One? No? Well, it's nothing like that movie. Take that as you will.
