Ivan Reitman expands on Ghostbusters 3 status: "We're actually making some real progress"

There was some retreading on the Bill Murray story from Ivan Reitman after a Q&A session at TIFF this weekend, and not much new came of it... but here's a look at where Reitman feels the project is. Not bad.

"We've had a couple scripts that were quite good that we just didn't think quite had it. One of them was particularly centered to Bill, and we just couldn't get him to read it, and so that one didn't get made, althought it was pretty damn good. So we've been thinking of alternatives, and we're actually making some real progress... and we'll see what happens."

Hat tip to Davide Passaia for the catch.

  1. I think the guy at the end asks Ivan: "Do you think if everything gets set up and ready that he might just show up on the set?"

Maybe not verbatim, but that's what it sounded like to me.

Even if Bill does appear in it, I think it will simply be a cameo. Perhaps the spokesman for the company or something like that. But I suppose anything is better than nothing.

  2. One thing that I don't understand is that Bill Murray says he will do it if the script is good yet they can't get him to read the script. How does he know if it's good or not if he won't read it?
