*RUMOR* Some site with terrible writing called Schmoeville has it on a "VERY RELIABLE source (used CAPS LOCK folks, it’s serious…)" that Jonah Hill and Emma Stone are being offered parts in Ghostbusters 3 as "Jeremy" and "Anna."
Here's what the Schmoes have to say about their “Source” (known as The Phantom) in a previous story about Beetlejuice 2: "Without revealing their identity, know that they are a high ranking studio executive that knows what is going on behind the scenes of everything in Hollywood. You know, serious stuff."
We usually only publish information from identified producers, actors, writers so keep this classified in your head as a rumor until you hear otherwise from a studio.
Some thoughts:
Jonah Hill has previously stated that the shoes are too big to fill, when asked about his interest in starring in the film, but he works as a decent straight-man (think Moneyball.) He's played awkward bumbling as well as conceited... unsure how those sides would help Ghostbusters 3. Personally, a Bill Hader or some of The Birthday Boys would be most respected, character age appropriate and welcome. A proven sketch/improv/SNL background would really help any casted party feel like they belong in the Ghostbusters.
Emma Stone has done the Ghostbusters song and dance with Bill Murray on screen in Zombieland, one might tangentially hope that somehow Murray could be coaxed into donning the suit with a young friend in the flick. Then again, Murray was brought into Zombieland by Woody Harrelson, so who knows what, if any, connection he retains with Emma Stone. Again, a sketch/improv background would really make a cast member feel like a good fit... thinking Aubrey Plaza might be their best bet of all.
Also good to remember, Stone and Hill (sounds like an Irish Pub) got their biggest breaks in Superbad together, so this would be a reunion of sorts. Could the long-rumored Cera-as-Oscar be far behind? Hader was in Superbad... will Ghostbusters 3 just be Superbad 2?
Time will tell if The Phantom's scoop turns out to be legit... or a bust.

Man things just keep going from bad to worse.
ReplyDeleteI think it's time to kill this project now. If your reading this Mr Ackroyd great respect to you, but you are about to make a "sequel" that will make Ghostbusters II a total masterpiece in retrospect.
I've no interest in new Ghostbusters. It's all worthless without the original guys. That's where the magic always lies. Kill this franchise concept and make Ghostbusters III a final chapter, made properly with the boys we actually want to pay money to see (you, Ramis, Hudson, Potts, Moranis and Murray!).
SchmoesKnow's source was on target about the actresses testing for the new Sarah Connor. Could actually be something to this. :/
ReplyDeleteI'm indifferent on Emma Stone, but Jonah Hill in a Ghostbusters flick gives me serious pause.
