Ernie Hudson remained a class act despite prying cameras as he arrived in Los Angeles, moments after hearing the news of Harold Ramis' passing.
Some of Hudson's words...
"I wouldn't be a Ghostbuster without Harold Ramis."
"I know I probably wouldn't be in the business probably had I not had the chance to work with Harold at that time in my career."
"There can't be another Ghostbusters without Harold. There could be another Ghost-something... but... that was always my fear, that, something might happen before we all get together. But anyway, Harold will be missed."
The guy asking questions made my skin crawl. Ernie is always a class act.
ReplyDeleteI'm just bummed all around about Harold Ramis, for a lot of reasons. He will be missed, just like Ernie said.
What a nice tribute Mr Hudson gave him. I feel really sorry for him. He would happily have done a third movie but now with the loss of Ramis it'll never be. I'm glad he himself has stated it won't happen without Harold. Clearly protecting the dignity of his friend. As a mere fan I'm 100% behind his opinion though I did want a new film more than anything.
ReplyDeleteI hope the Oscar's give Mr Ramis a due tribute. Groundhog Day I'm sure is fantastic but it's his Ghostbusters work that means so much more to many millions of people worldwide. Please let them choose the right footage to represent him best. I'd so love if they used his Ghostbusters II "smile" scene ("Doe....Ray....Egon!"). Just a perfect Egon moment even though it's from the sequel.
Ghostbusters II was on Esquire last night. That scene in the court room made my bust out laughing. Woke up my better half, but it was worth it. Fell asleep watching the movie, just like when I was a kid.
Deleteim here to say sony is continuing rebooting the entire thing which should of happened by now a new GB movie is a good idea but just reboot the entire thing pass the so called torches already once the 3rd is out and most of the older fans walk away with new fans coming on board the GB reboot will be a success ether way so i cant wait for new characters screw the originals.. cant believe i said that but its true the originals have brought this down when sony already have said they are redoing the entire thing.
ReplyDeletei will say dan and ernie are class acts without dan over baring cheerful self that kept the 3rd from falling apart many times now we wouldnt be having the GB3 descusion without him yes its sad to see ramis go but sony have said that he wasnt a big part of the 3rd so his passing wont effect the script or movie but yea they do need to make the 3rd in ramis's honor but the 3rd needs to happen more now then ever
You can't "reboot" a character flick. Ghostbusters was never about the premise. It could have been Squidbusters or Dustbusters and still been the iconic movie it was because it was about the people in the movie. There is no other Egon but Harold Ramis, no other Winston but Ernie Hudson. If they attempt to recast those characters, the movie will flop like a late 70's godzilla flick and will rightly deserve to.
DeleteI think your in an extremely EXTREMELY narrow minority there friend regarding "screw the original characters". Without these guys Ghostbusters would never have existed. I have zero ZERO interest in seeing new Ghostbusters characters simply walking in and taking their place. I can't accept that without the originals being there too and neither would a generic audience who fondly remembers the first two films. The public are not stupid, they remember who the Ghostbusters are supposed to be from Bill Murray on. Your talking a classic cast here mate. That's not as easy to replace as you claim. Plus the suggestions I've heard for new cast have been nothing short of appalling. APALLING. END OF. I get the impression some of these new guys would treat the thing wholly as a comedy and have nothing of the serious side in their acting (to sell the action/adventure and the scares I took seriously as a kid) the original guys were also brilliant at doing.
ReplyDeleteThe thing might be pulled off if the new characters were in fact the same characters as featured in Extreme Ghostbusters (Eduardo, Kylie e.c.t). I look at the episodes "Back in the Saddle" as being the textbook example of what the third movie couldv'e been like. Updated from the 90's of course. Being familar with these characters through the animated series may be a big help for fans rather than introducing entirely new and risky faces that may be hard to actually like. Again though without the old Ghostbusters you don't have even a half decent sequel.
