With the release of Moonrise Kingdom and plenty of Murray in the public spotlight, reporters that just can't help themselves are asking Murray "the question" once again.
The result this time? He compares Ghostbusters to "Avengers Assemble". What? I don't know. Venkman is Tony Stark, Ray is Captain America... that's all I've got. Vigo is Thor? Clearly he means the team dynamic must be right for Ghostbusters III to happen but I don't know if he's making weird analogies because he hasn't totally dismissed the project or because he's tired of just saying "yes" or "no", and is opting to just be weird.
This one via "Film News" out of the UK.
Avengers=Ghostbusters? Bickering? BackBitting? Are you kidding? In most cases they had to deal with Venkman's lust and it was like... oh well... That's Venkman for ya.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya. Though they did get a little pushy when covered in slime! And Venkman has a way of pulling Ray's ear around.
ReplyDeleteWhy not get adam sandler to play as peters son, or as dana's son from gb2? Another thought is reboot like every other franchise. Woody Harrellson as Peter, Dave Chappelle as Winston, Will Farrell as Ray, and Egon could be played by Adam Sandler with cameos by the original cast. Ramis as Hotel manager, rick moranis as epa inspector, Ernie Hudson as the mayor, and Dan Akroyd could be whatever he wanted to be. Either way who needs Murray for a reboot?
ReplyDeleteThese are all the worst ideas I have ever heard.
Delete...or take his comment at it's simplest. Avengers was in Theaters... so Ghostbusters 3 will be in theaters. Here's to hopeful thinking!

ReplyDeleteI wish the script for Ghostbusters 3 was more interesting. Don't really like the sound of what they might do, although some of it sounds appealing.
ReplyDeleteAs for the new cast selections. Kristen Schaal, Felicity Jones, Emma Stone, Kaley Cuoco or Kate Micucci would be excellent women additions to the Ghostbuster 3 class. Jack Black, Rainn Wilson, Seth Rogen, Jim Parsons or Richard Ayoade would be mind blowing for the guy selections.
Angelina Jolie was mentioned as a possible Gozer comeback character, that would make things interesting. I am not big on the idea of the original cast being obese, or with an eye-patch as their disabilities. Kinda sounds a little weak. They could use an ECTO 2 car too!
I guess we will have to see if they completely ruin the idea of a third version or make good decisions on the next one. Good luck!!
I just wish that someone would have better ideas in terms of actors for potential new characters. If you think about someone like Seth Rogen, who is actually not very funny, in the role as one of the Ghostbusters, that's one reason for thousands of people not to go see this movie. And Adam Sandler is not a good idea either, just saying. They need to be careful, and Aykroyd is right, the original Ghostbusters cast needs to be a HUGE part of the audition process. More specifically, do people think they could just have 4 random people show up and start blasting ghosts? Probably not. They're going to need to think about characters who would've spent large amounts of time with the Ghostbusters. Peter and Dana could potentially have another child, in addition to Oscar, Jeanine and Louis could potentially have children, and Winston said he was a single parent, so his child(ren). That's at least four there, and because it is all implied, they could also look like anything.
ReplyDeleteBy the way...

You are a moron. In addition to no one wanting to see fat, old men chasing ghosts, they also do not want to drunk, high, not funny "men" chasing ghosts. Just saying.
Its funny, your comment was just as ignorant as you stating it. You never mention what actors would fit, you just complain about it. I think Seth Rogen could fit based on his "dead pan" acting style. He might not be funny to you buy he can be based on the writers involved. At least I did my research, why do you think I mentioned Rainn Wilson, the writers of the Office are major players in the script. So they already know how to write for him. Having said that, I am not just proposing random actors to play the parts, just stating that obvious, the actors I mentioned are highly talented and still young, in addition have a history of "geek" roles played, which seems to fit the Ghostbusters persona. Since I don't have the original script in front of me, I can't image coming up with the best senario, I am very much aware of the audition process.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am also aware of the fact of the original cast having children and finding cast members that sort-of look like the original cast so they can fit... but they don't all have to have children be ghostbusters... it would be nice to see a British presence in there to spice things up a little differently... I am sure they will have a bit that shows them interviewing new ghostbusters which will be hilarious in my opinion.
