Ghostbusters 3 Gets New Writers, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky Presumably Out

While signing crystal heads in Amherst, NY yesterday, Dan Aykroyd gave us an update on the status of "Ghostbusters 3" rewrites.

WIVB 4 reports:"We've got a new writing staff working on it now," Aykroyd said. "It's got to be perfect. That's the whole thing. There's no point in doing it unless it's perfect."

One presumes that means Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are out, once lauded for their work on "The Office", then tarnished for their "Year One" and "Bad Teacher" screenplays. With Murray refusing to bow out completely, there seems to be a chance that he'd be on board for a "perfect" Ghostbusters threequel. Is it even possible? Who knows, but the saga continues...

Our next step, somebody find out who is rewriting this thing! Meanwhile, happy 60th birthday, Dan!

  1. Hi Dan! Thanks again for your gracious reply to my "I'll Get By' idea. Sorry to hear that your project hasn't got off the ground yet. Don't know if you ever got my idea two years ago about Bin Laden's ghost taking over the Empire State Building after the CIA took him up there to interrogate him and he "accidentally" fell to his death. Kind of prescient in light of the events of May 1,2011! Good luck with III and GREAT job in "The Campaign". Funniest movie I've seen all year! Best, M. McNulty
