Even with New Script, Murray Won't Be in GB3, Says Aykroyd

Sad. Again.

"I can tell you Bill won't be involved. It's sad but we're passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one" Aykroyd told the Metro according to HuffPo UK.

Well, perhaps this can be like the Star Trek reboot. Respected for including Nemoy, Shatner-less but great none-the-less.

  1. No GB3 is better than anything that would be compared to that Star Trek abomination. I don't want a GB movie that craps all over everything that came before it.

... is what the last guy said.

While interested in seeing new GB material, I'm not sure what to think of a potential non-Murray sequel. It could really go either way, but I don't think anyone would argue who it was that made the first two films funny (as far as the end-viewer was concerned).

  4. I can see a reboot as a positive, instead of making a comedy, make a horror/action film. You really don't need to change anything, and a gunslinging Ghost Hunters with less of the flippancy! there is always the chance of screwing up the franchise, but you can never ruin the original.

  5. Gb has been my favorite film for years & Bill has been the holdout for much too long. I would rather see another GB film, than be put on hold for another 20 years till Bill decides his paycheck is enough. Bill, you were great but considering the new film will focus on a new cast anyways, you can enjoy watching it on the big screen like the rest of us.

Glad to hear they're moving forward!
