Zombieland Director Being Courted for Ghostbusters 3

Who will take up the director's mantle for a third Ghostbusters film? That's been the question that fans have been discussing for the last two months. After a close-call with the directors of the Lego Movie, word has finally leaked on another name that is being considered, Ruben Fleischer, best known for his work in, oh, you know... just one of the best-reviewed horror comedies of the last decade featuring Bill Murray ... Zombieland.

Of course, since this is Ghostbusters production, and two steps backward are an inevitability in every step forward... there are some complications. First, Fleisher has a new baby and that may delay his starting a new project. Second, his name is up as a potential director to helm Ant-Man after Edger Wright's departure this month, though Rawson Marshall Thurber (We're the Millers, Dodgeball) is the frontrunner for the role.

So again, we wait. Zombieland was great, and many will speculate that Fleischer might have a Wes Andersonesque chance of roping Murray into a cameo, though if one knows Zombieland's production history, it was actually Woody Harrelson that got Murray to get involved in the film. Hopefully Fleischer gained a good relationship with Murray in the filming process.

This story brought to us by The Wrap's Jeff Sneider, who has nailed a few exclusives on the project over the last few months. Keep em' coming Jeff!
