Dana! Oscar! Louis! New GB3 Details In Vanity Fair's Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary Feature
Vanity Fair has published an absolutely fantastic look at the creation of GHOSTBUSTERS in celebration of the original film's 30th anniversary this weekend. The entire thing is worth your time, debunking the old Eddie Murphy casting myth and bringing some new production facts to light, but we're a Ghostbusters 3 blog, dagnabbit, and we're going to focus on collecting the ectoplasmic residue of the third film sprinkled throughout the article.
First, the Vanity Fair's Lesley M.M. Blume confirms that all of the cast members she interviewed said that they would "happily participate" in Ghostbusters 3. That means Aykroyd, Hudson, Potts, Weaver and even the retired Rick Moranis.
Sigourney was quoted as having one condition for joining the cast, wanting her movie-son Oscar to be a Ghostbuster, something she has expressed in interviews before. Of note, Reitman confirmed to her (and she to Vanity Fair) that the Ghostbusters 3 script already includes Oscar as a Ghostbuster. So, spoiler alert. It's also the first we've heard in a few years about her involvement, so it is good to have her on board if the script calls for it.
Meanwhile, in case there was any doubt, Men in Black III scribe Etan Cohen is still working on the script, spending hours every week working on it closely with Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd. On Aykroyd, Cohen says, “No one can speak the language of Ghostbusters like he can.”
Thanks to Davide for the tip, these long 30th anniversary features are tough to sort through!
Awesome sauce. I have a good feeling about this movie once it's done. I just feel bad cause i know a lot of morons won't bother seeing it cause Bill is not in it.. or they won't go see it if bill is not in it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame to me... that people focus so much on the actors and not the story it's self.. that's what matters to me.. the story and the laughs.. not what actor is or is not in it... unless the actors in it end up sucking... then i would have to say it does matter.
I came in late. What issue of Vanity Fair is the article in?
ReplyDeleteUnsure of the physical issue, but it was in this time frame: http://www.vanityfair.com/vf-hollywood/ghostbusters-making-of
