Light Ain't Green, Trap Ain't Clean

Examiner.com, the local-focused website that will pretty much let anyone write for it, has a report up by Jim Dixon... an upstate New York blogger... who says he has an "update" on the third film from a (unnamed) senior spokesman at Sony studios. Really. Snarky commas, ellipses, ironic quotation marks, parentheses and italics aside, the article basically states that Sony does not have a start date locked for 2013, nor should Bill Murray be ruled out entirely.

And that makes sense. If you read inciting article from two days ago, it just implies that Reitman is gunning to roll film come Summer 2013 and Paramount (not GB property owners, that'd be Sony) is figuring his schedule out based upon the director's expectations. Not much solid or studio driven there. As our friend Dan Aykroyd would say, no production number, no green-light. When this thing is actually green-lit and out of the tenth level of development hell, trust us, you'll know. We'll use the headline "THE TRAP IS CLEAN! GHOSTBUSTERS 3 IS A DEFINITE GO". Ok? Ok.

Meanwhile, if Murray likes the script he will be in. He's like a broken record on that point. So the studio will not rule that out and has sent in their A-team to try to make that happen. The next update we need is a credible source on where the script rewrite stands. It's been too long since we've had a solid update... July in fact.
