We're watching the "Ghostbusters shared universe" story

Nothing about Ivan Reitman's 2017 Comic-Con musings are really new, he's been floating the want for a "shared universe" Ghostbusters movie since June.

Reitman said then about the next live action movie sequel/threequel: "It was a little awkward that it wasn’t connected, and we certainly heard a lot from everybody out there. So I would definitely want to connect to all of that."

Ok. As for the CGI Harold Ramis rumor that has the internet on fire with think-pieces, that would be an easily accepted given if he were to be a ghost in the film. Reitman brought up CGI Egon as a possibility that was being floated in response to a fan question that asked... if he had considered a CGI Egon before. So that little leading bit of questionnaire should be remembered when considering how seriously to take the production planning. Less on the forefront of the director's mind and more a thought that'd been discussed.
