Max Landis' Ghostbusters 3 Would Have Starred Egon's Daughter

Just how close did Max Landis (Chronicle) get from writing a new Ghostbusters sequel? In a YouTube video from March, Landis commented on his Ghostbusters 3 script that made its way into the studio for consideration.

"Before Feig stepped in on it, I was in the, basically in the finals to write that movie. I had a meeting scheduled with Ivan Reitman that got cancelled because Paul Feig had walked in and said ALL WOMEN."

"My lead of my Ghostbusters, is a woman, is Egon's daughter... and... one woman wasn't enough"

If you missed it, he shared his full treatment last year, but this is the first we're hearing how close he came to discussions with Reitman. Check out the full thing below.

And as long as we're talking about woulda-couldas, here's some concept art from a scrapped Ghostbusters III scene that was posted to Twitter a little while back from artist Tristan Jones. SO. COOL.

  1. Let's encourage Dan and the forces that be to take the remake as a Mulligan like the Evil Dead remake and call for the same solution: Netflix or other TV like Ash vs The Evil Dead. Janine holding an old school PKA meter as she peeps into a door, "Anybody home?" She and Winston could lead a show and train young people at new BRANCHES that would get it out of New York. What if a new team in Kansas bought property across from a cult like Westboro whose readings bury the needle ?

  2. This movie could have been done so much better. I understand that today is all about empowering women, but let's do it to another movie. This was a classic that is ruined due to poor writers and the politics involved. Let's face it. Movies today aren't very entertaining anymore. It's more about the message and money. We get it..your capturing a more female audience. How about this one...How about the ghost have been dormant for years and the original Ghost Busters are older and let's just say retired. A group of 4 teens boys/girls decide to take matters in there own hands, find the original ghost buster gear and kick some ass. I mean you can write this in so many ways.. the leader, the geek, the handsome. Even throw in a love story based on top based on these characters. A little monster-squad meets Ghostbusters. Simple and it could be a trilogy no problem. No offense to the women who are acting in the new Ghostbusters. Very funny, but it's not about everyone's equal and more power to women. We get it already. How about just making movies like they used to be.. Great!!
