Variety: New Animated Ghostbusters Film Potentially Based on Original Characters in the Works

Can't ignore Variety. The magazine's sources have confirmed that SONY is in the process of developing an animated Ghostbusters film with Ivan Reitman's company Montecito producing. Not much was revealed about the film except that it would likely "follow the famous group as they fight supernatural forces". If the film is in line with canon, we will follow the project until completion!

Honestly probably the best way to continue the spirit of the characters would be via animation. One would hope for an animated movie grounded in reality most of the time to fit with the vibe of the comedy when ghosts aren't being thrown at the camera left and right. Can we call Dan Schoening to storyboard please?

  1. It depends on the quality of the animation. If it took many steps beyond the quality of that video game than sure, it might be great. But I've got rubbish "Minions" style fantastical animation on the brain at the moment reading this story. Pixar shit. If it looked like those?....sorry the ship shall sink. Still in continuity with the original films it will a whole LOT better than what we're getting next year. But nothing beats having the guys for real in live action on the big screen again. I still feel we're getting short changed with less ambition.

  2. If this pans out, it will be the best news since the video game.
